Block Car Pollution project, which enhances the use of collective and shared transportation using blockchain, is a finalist on the Innovation Prize of the Portuguese Mint and Official Printing Office (INCM). The idea presented to the competition was developed by Ubiwhere (Rui A. Costa, Ricardo Vitorino e André Duarte), in collaboration with two researchers of University of Aveiro - João Paulo Barraca and André Zúquete from the Electronics, Telecommunications and Informatics Department.
The main objective is to provide users of public and shared transport an intelligent reward system, capable of creating a digital wallet and generating virtual coins, when purchasing tickets to transport entities associated to the project. In addition, the technology platform resulting from this idea, will integrate the ticketing modules of transport operators (with a concept of safe and decentralized transactions - blockchain), providing an online marketplace, where the virtual currencies generated may be used for the acquisition of products and services of the project’s partners entities.
This nomination reinforces the positioning of Ubiwhere as a leader in the research and technological development in the Smart Cities, Telecommunications and Internet of the Future sectors. With several reference projects already implemented, the company has been constantly betting on the differentiation, innovation, quality and rigor of its products and services.
Block Car Pollution is one of the 3 finalists of the Portuguese Mint and Official Printing Office contest, which aims to select and reward ideas that allow the creation of innovative solutions that can integrate INCM's corporate purpose.
