SELFNET is a project promoted by the European Commission under Horizon2020, the largest research and innovation program of all time.

Composed by a Consortium of 12 companies, an investment estimated at 7 million euros and an expected period of 36 months, SELFNET is one of the 19 projects of the 5G PPP public-private partnership, aiming to rethink and create an infrastructure for the future telecommunications network, the 5G.

By exploring state-of-the-art technologies in the Software-Defined Networks (SDN), Self-Organizing Networks (SON), Cloud Computing, Artificial Intelligence and Quality of Experience (QoE), SELFNET intends to project and implement an autonomous management structure for the 5G telecommunications networks, with self-organizing capabilities, automatic detection and reduction of problems that are currently still being processed manually by operators, significantly reducing operational costs.

It will have a self-protection ability in the event of cyber-attacks and self-healing capabilities against network vulnerabilities. The optimization will be automatic in order to dynamically improve the network's performance and the QoE (Quality of Experience) of the users.
