The project SECRET - "Secure Network Coding for Reduced Energy Next Generation Mobile Small Cells” arises in the scope of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions, which falls within the "Excellent Science", one of the three pillars of Horizon 2020.
With the number of devices and mobile traffic registering an unprecedented growth, arises the need for a more sophisticated broadband service to enable the integration of wireless networks at a higher speed. At this time, the scientific community, Industries and companies are focusing their attention to a new mobile network generation, the 5G.
Within the context of future 5G networks, the project SECRET intends to upgrade the current concept of smart cells, allowing end-users to take the role of hotspot, acting like "small mobile cells" capable of providing high speed wireless network at a lower cost and a reduced energy consumption. This way, the SECRET project potentiate emerging technologies such as, Smart Cities and the Internet of Things (IoT).
The project, starting in January 2017, will have a 3-year duration with the participation of 8 partners coming from 5 European countries, among which, Universities, Research Centres, SME’s and Industries.
